Saints women end season at NAIA Track and Field championships

Members of the OLLU women’s track and field team participated in the 43rd Annual NAIA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championship last week. The women competed in the 400mH, 4x100mR, 4x400mR and 5000m.

Aziza Clark and Loreaya Turner finished with a great season. Clark placed 11th in the prelims, missing the 400m hurdle finals by three tenths of a second. Turner finished 21st in the same event. Both finished the season as the two fastest freshman 400m hurdlers in the NAIA.

Head Coach Patrick Torres commented, “We keep elevating our performance at the national meet. Our individuals didn’t make the finals, but they put themselves in contention. Our relays also didn’t disappoint. I’m excited for next year; with development and new pieces, we will be even better.”

Women’s indoor relay qualifies for nationals at New Mexico meet

The OLLU women’s 4X400 relay team set a school record and qualified for nationals this past weekend at the University of New Mexico Collegiate Classic.

Aziza Clark ran the 60m hurdles with a NAIA “B” Standard time of 8.99, while the 4x400m relay team of Morghan Neely, Autumn Roberts, Aziza Clark and Alexandria Segura set the school record at 3:58.44.

Head Coach Patrick Torres commented, “I feel like the relay qualifying is extra special because of how elusive 4×400 qualifying has been for us as a team in the past. Aziza Clark getting a B in the hurdles added to the great feeling we left the track with.”
