Track and Field teams compete at Bobcat Invitational

The OLLU men’s and women’s track and field teams participated in the recent Bobcat Invitational at Texas State University in San Marcos.

Head Coach Patrick Torres commented, “This was another weekend taking steps in the right direction. This is kind of the unofficial halfway point of the season, and I like where we are positioned moving forward. We have more athletes qualified for nationals now than any other year in school history.”

Kristen Torres broke the OLLU record in the 5000m, and the 4x400m relay team broke the record with a time of 3:56.89. Team members included Tara Madrid, Aziza Clark, Morghan Neely and Alexandria Segura.

Women’s track sets four school records at Charles Austin Classic

The OLLU women’s track and field team set four records this past weekend at the Charles Austin Classic at Texas State University.

On Friday, Victoria Sweeney broke the record in the javelin throw with a mark of 35.21. Kristen Torres‘ time in the 1500m is a record setting 4:48.99. On Saturday, Madison Perez broke the 800m record with a time of 2:16.42. The 4x100m relay team consisting of Larrisa McHenry, JaDae Freeman, Kamdyn Burgess and Madison Walker set the record with a time of 47.42. They also marked a National “B” Standard.

Head Coach Patrick Torres commented, “We got a qualifier in the relay and had some outstanding PRs. I’m very excited for where this squad is coming into the Texas Relays. This is far and away the best group we’ve had at OLLU.”
