CDP Heritage Day to be held in Castroville on Sunday

The OLLU community is invited to attend the Congregation of Divine Providence’s 26th annual Heritage Day festival on Sunday at the Moye Retreat Center in Castroville from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. In addition to the highly anticipated quilt raffle, they will also have a silent auction and crafts sale.

Entertainment will be provided by Alsatian dancers and a DJ. BBQ chicken with Alsatian sausage lunch plates will be sold. Food Plate and Quilt Raffle tickets are available online at http://www.cdptexas.org/hd

All proceeds are used to preserve and grow Moye Retreat Center. Moye Retreat Center is the original motherhouse of the Congregation of Divine Providence in Texas and currently is a place for hosting retreats, renewal programs and other activities promoting personal and spiritual growth. It has been an integral part of life in Castroville and the surrounding communities since 1868.

Reminder: Annual ‘Heritage Day’ set for Oct. 8

Heritage Day will be held on Sunday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Moye Retreat Center, 600 London Street, in Castroville. The event will feature food, a raffle, a silent auction and visits with the Sisters of Divine Providence. 

Heritage Day is a tribute to our collective spirit, heritage and the transformative impacts of the Sisters of Divine Providence. It is also an opportunity to strengthen shared bonds, to reminisce about our collective past and to dream about our collective future.

Moye Retreat Center has been part of the Castroville community since 1868. This Heritage Day will be a celebration of the past while illuminating our path forward.

Activities that await:

  • Make shared memories: Walk the grounds and take in the living history of the Moye Retreat Center. Talk with the Sisters. Make new friends. Enjoy the day!
  • Try your luck with our quilt raffle, delve into the treasures of the silent auction, and grab a few gifts from the craft sale. Pick out something for your garden from our plant sale. Savor a delightful array of homemade treats at our bake sale.
  • Explore the children’s area which will have a petting zoo, face painting, pumpkin decorating and more. Hay bales and festive decorations will be set up, perfect for capturing fall family photos.
  • Experience the choreographic beauty of Alsatian dancers and groove to the tunes of our DJ.
  • Order a BBQ Plate: A delicious combination of BBQ Chicken, Alsatian Sausage, and sides! Cost: $10.

Proceeds will benefit the Moye Retreat Center, the original Motherhouse of the Sisters of Divine Providence in Castroville.

The OLLU community is invited to attend the 24th annual Congregation of Divine Providence Heritage Day festival on Oct. 9 at the Moye Retreat Center in Castroville, Texas, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. In addition to a quilt raffle, there will be a silent auction, crafts sale, plant sale, and a children’s area (costume contest for those 6-years-old or younger).

Entertainment will be provided by Alsatian dancers and a DJ. Barbecue chicken with Alsatian sausage lunch plates will be sold. Food Plate and Quilt Raffle tickets are available online at www.cdptexas.org/hd22

Moye di Gras benefit for Sisters of Divine Providence to be held Feb. 26 

Moye di Gras 2022 will be held at the Braden Keller Center in Castroville on Feb. 26 from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. The event, which benefits the Sisters of Divine Providence and the Moye Retreat Center, will feature dinner, beer, wine, margaritas, dancing, a live auction, a bucket raffle and door prizes.

Tickets are $50 each. Free bus transportation will be provided. The bus will leave Our Lady of the Lake Convent at 6 p.m. and return no later than 11 p.m.
