Professor Winstead directing, serving as panelist during Sterling Houston Festival

Antoinette Winstead, MFA, professor of Drama and Mass Communication, will direct a play and serve as a panelist during the Sterling Houston Festival which will run June 4-19 at various locations around San Antonio.

Sterling Houston (1945-2006) was a beloved San Antonio playwright, actor, author and musician. The Sterling Houston Festival honors his life and legacy. Professor Winstead will direct a production of “Black Lily and White Lily,” one of Houston’s short plays examining racial and social inequities in the 1950s. The performance will take place June 4 at 7 p.m. at the Carver Community Cultural Center.

Professor Winstead also will serve as a panelist exploring the significance and impact of Houston and his body of work. It will take place June 9 at 7 p.m. at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center.
