Despite early lead, the OLLU men’s basketball team drops conference game to Shreveport
The men’s basketball team was hoping for a 3-0 road trip this past week, but the Saints blew their chance after losing 109-116 to Louisiana State University – Shreveport on Saturday evening. The loss to the Red River Athletic Conference’s leader dropped the Saints to 5-2 and 10-8 overall, while the Pilots improved to 9-0 and 13-5 overall. The Saints are one game behind second place University of St. Thomas (7-2/11-7) and tied with Wiley College (6-3/14-4). The Saints made just 12-of-43 3-pointers, and the team shot 46 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free-throw line. Xavier Roberson led the Saints in shooting with 34 points, including 11-of-17 from the field, five 3-pointers and 7-of-10 from the free throw line. Brock Hunter followed with 22 points, and CJ Martinez finished with 16 points. The Saints will return home to host Langston University on Friday and Bacone College on Saturday. Read full story online.
