OLLU’s annual Literary Festival kicks off this week

OLLU’s annual Literary Festival will run Wednesday-Saturday. The festival includes a series of literary events presented by renowned poets, scholars and authors. This year’s festival, “Rebirth and Renacimiento,” will explore the themes of rebirth and renewal through various events throughout the course of several days.

Headline presenters for this year include San Antonio Poet Laureate Laurie Ann Guerrero, Anel Flores, Ito Romo and OLLU’s very own Nan Cuba.

All events are free and open to the public.

Learn more about the new MA-MFA program offered by the English department

As part of the Literary Festival, the English department will also be hosting a discussion panel to launch the new Master of Arts-Master of Fine Arts in Literature, Creative Writing and Social Justice, on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Providence Hall, Blue Room. The panel will introduce the new program to the community and discuss how the program will benefit students and the local community. The panel will feature:

  • Shelia Black – Poet and Executive Director of Gemini Ink
  • Pam Johnston – Author and professor at Texas Lutheran University
  • Leah Larson – Professor and Graduate Program Director at OLLU
  • Dexter Gilford and Erica Seiler – OLLU English graduate students
