Actor, director Jesse Borrego to speak at Thiry Auditorium

The OLLU Salazar-Escobedo School of Mass Communication and Theater will present “An Evening with Jesse Borrego” on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Thiry Auditorium.

The presentation, “Bridging the Cultural Uncanny Valley: Image and Story in the 21st Century,” will feature a San Antonio native who is one of four Latino actors recently invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

An actor, director and producer, Borrego will share his perspective on cultural identity and image, especially as it pertains to the trillion-dollar entertainment industry, consumerism and ultimately the American cultural identity.

As a veteran of stage, screen and television, Borrego has a unique understanding of the challenges of a Chicano actor. Exploring the highlights of his professional career, he identifies certain milestones in our shared cultural evolution and the potential empowerment of the cultural narrative in our digital information age.

A meet and greet will follow the three-hour presentation.
