HOPE Scholarship application still open for students
The Hispanic Organization for Public Employees (HOPE) has partnered with OLLU to provide a $3,000 scholarship with a matching University scholarship. The scholarship is open to incoming freshmen, incoming transfer students and current OLLU students.

‘How to help students in a crisis’ on Wednesday
Counseling Services and Student Life are hosting the seminar “How to help students in a crisis,” on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in Main Building, Room 311.
Staff and faculty members who supervise, teach, mentor or work with students are encouraged to attend this event to get answers to some of the following questions/scenarios:
- What to say when a student is talking about mental health/emotional issues that they may not feel comfortable talking about or don’t know how to handle.
- What to do when they encounter a student who may be depressed.
- How fast can Counseling Services see a student?
This event will answer questions faculty and staff members often have and will give tips on how to support students.

This will be an informal conversation. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch, and desserts will be provided. Those who think they may attend should email studentlife@ollusa.edu. RSVPs are not required, but this will ensure there are enough desserts for those who do attend
12 Hour Outage this week for Lake Online
The annual review of the Blackboard system—the platform on which Lake Online is built— revealed an urgent need to upgrade to the current version of the platform. This upgrade has been scheduled for this Wednesday. Thus, the Lake Online system will be unavailable from 10 p.m. Wednesday evening through 10 a.m. Thursday morning.
Although it is policy to avoid service interruptions during course terms whenever possible, it has been determined that this interruption is unavoidable.
Those who have questions or need assistance in utilizing alternative teaching and learning technologies should contact Dr. Kimberly Gibson, assistant vice president for Academic Affairs in Online Learning, through the helpdesk system at helpdesk@ollusa.edu.
OLLU to welcome new freshmen on Friday during Lake Day
Lake Day for freshmen advising and registration will take place on Friday. The incoming students and their families will attend advising sessions, meet with faculty, register and complete financial aid and business office arrangements.
Although Friday is scheduled as a half day for the University, all offices associated with Lake Day will remain open until the event is finished.
Other Lake Day dates this summer:
- Friday, June 26
- Wednesday, July 15 – for transfer students
- Saturday, July 25
Cashier services unavailable on Friday
Due to Lake Day on June 12, the Student Business Office will not be accepting department or office deposits or issuing petty cash that day. Cashier services will resume at 8:30 a.m. on June 15.
Thursday is last day for employees to RSVP for Slater Tribute Dinner
As the Presidential term of Sister Jane Ann Slater nears its completion, the Board of Trustees of Our Lady of the Lake University is hosting a special event recognizing the leadership she has provided since spring of 2013.
On Tuesday, June 16, at 6:30 p.m., a reception and dinner will be held at the Omni Colonnade San Antonio Hotel.
Individual seat tickets and table sponsorships for purchase are still available through Thursday for President Slater’s Tribute Dinner. Net proceeds from sales will fund a permanent scholarship endowment in her name.

OLLU’s Jordan Hackett selected to Rawlings-NAIA Baseball Gold Glove Team
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2015 Rawlings-NAIA Baseball Gold Glove Team, as selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association All-America Committee. For the ninth year, a total of nine players were chosen based upon their defensive success. Our Lady of the Lake University’s starting pitcher Jordan Hackett (FR/San Antonio, Texas) has been selected to the team. OLLU partners with The Basketball Embassy for Assembly 2015, a camp for 16-17 year-olds
OLLU has announced a partnership with The Basketball Embassy this year for the inaugural Assembly 2015, a unique camp scheduled for June 14-21 at the OLLU campus in San Antonio. Select basketball players and coaches from across the world will participate in a week of elite basketball competition, friendship and fun. The camp is for boys and girls ages 16-17 and is intended to challenge and develop both American and international students wanting to play college basketball, as well as international players looking to advance within their club or national team system. There will be two-three sessions daily consisting of at least one gym session, weight/physical training, swimming pool workouts and other conditioning activities, all led by camp specialists in these respective fields. Due to the rigorous nature of these sessions, the Assembly is not intended for beginners or players with minimal experience. The camp will also include competitive matches against local teams in San Antonio. These games will be officiated by registered referees and will be filmed for recruiting and scouting purposes. Registration now open for OLLU’s 2015 Summer Volleyball Camp
OLLU will hold the 2014 Summer Volleyball Camp from July 14-16 in Mabee Gymnasium. The camp is designed for children in grades 4-12. The camp for those in grades 4-8 will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and for those in grades 9-12, the session will take place from 1-3:30 p.m. Cost for the three-day camp is $125 per person. A $25 discount will be given to children of OLLU alumni, staff and faculty. Siblings will also receive a $25 discount. There will be a maximum of 8-1 in camper-to-coach ratio. Head Coach Jeremiah Tiffin and Assistant Coach Lance Pulliam will conduct the camp with the assistance of members of the OLLU Saints Volleyball Team. All campers will receive a free t-shirt. OLLU to hold Ryan Wall Basketball Camp
OLLU will hold the 2015 Ryan Wall Basketball Camp from July 27-31 in Mabee Gymnasium. The camp is designed for boys and girls in grades 4-12. The camp will be directed by OLLU Men’s Basketball Head Coach Ryan Wall and is designed to develop individual skill through a variety of basketball-specific drills as well as 5 v 5 games.
