The OLLU women’s basketball team won two conference games on the road this past weekend. On Friday, the Saints defeated Jarvis Christian College 76-62 and on Saturday, the women beat Texas College 99-84. The wins move the Saints to 13-2 in the Red River Athletic Conference and 23-3 overall, while Jarvis drops to 9-8 in conference and 13-8 overall. Texas College sinks to 2-15 in conference and 2-28 overall. The Saints are one game behind league-leader Wiley College (14-1/25-2) and two games ahead of third-place Langston University (12-5/16-11). LSU-Shreveport (9-6/17-9) is five games behind, followed by Huston-Tillotson University (9-7/11-13), Jarvis, University of St. Thomas (7-9/14-14), Bacone College (4-12/8-16), Texas College, Southwest (1-15/3-19) and Paul Quinn College (3-17). The wins improve the Saints record to 13-2 in the Red River Athletic Conference and 19-8 overall. Jarvis drops to 5-12 in conference and 8-15 overall, while Texas College sinks to 3-14 and 7-18 overall. The Saints are one game behind league-leader LSU-Shreveport (14-1/19-6) and one game ahead of the University of St. Thomas (13-4/17-9). Wiley College (10-5/19-6), Langston University (9-8/10-14), Bacone College (8-8/11-16), Huston-Tillotson University (6-10/8-19), Jarvis, Texas, Paul Quinn (1-21) and the University of the Southwest (0-16/2-23) follow. OLLU’s Fiesta Medal Unveiling set for Thursday
The OLLU Best of the West 2014 Fiesta® Medal will be unveiled on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. in front of Moye Hall.
After the unveiling, medals will be available for a suggested donation of $3 each – one per person (while supplies last) in front of Moye Hall until 1:30 p.m. Additional medals will be $6 each.
After 1:30 p.m., medals will be available until 5 p.m. in the Alumni Office for the suggested $3 donation – one per person (while supplies last). Additional medals will be $6 each. T-shirts will be on sale for $10 and pre-sale tickets for Best of the West will be available for $5 during the event.
Beginning Friday, medals will be available for $6 in the Alumni Office or $8 at the Fiesta® Store located on Broadway.

Invitation to Communication and Learning Disorders Department Public Meeting
The Communication and Learning Disorders department invites the community to a public meeting during its upcoming accreditation site visit, Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, from 4-5 p.m. in the Library Community Room.

System downtime scheduled for Feb. 27
The University’s enterprise resource planning system, Colleague, will be unavailable beginning at Thursday, Feb. 27, at noon. This scheduled downtime is necessary to replace aging equipment.
During the downtime, the following systems will be unavailable:
- Colleague
- WebAdvisor
- Retention Alert
- Informer ad hoc reporting tool
- myOLLU Portal (includes student e-commerce)
The following systems will be available during this scheduled maintenance:
- Lake Online (a temporary page will be placed on the myOLLU Portal link with the direct links to both Lake Online applications -old and new)
- Recruiter software will be available, but exports to Colleague will not be possible.
- ImageNow will be available for viewing, but linking or searches requiring a connection to Colleague will not be available.
- University email (a temporary page will be placed on the myOLLU Portal link with the direct link)
- University phone
- University time clock system (Stromberg)
As a result of the downtime, the Registrar’s Office, Student Business Office and the Financial Aid Office will be closed from noon-5 p.m.
An announcement will be sent when the work is completed.

Students invited to ‘Talk About LGBTQI Rights’
The Center for Women in Church and Society is hosting, “Let’s talk about LGBTQI rights,” Thursday from 12:15-1:15 p.m. in Providence Hall, West Social Room (PWSR). The event, which will celebrate World Day of Social Justice, is meant to be a respectful, engaging and open dialogue among OLLU students who are interested in the issues of human rights, the LGBTQI community and national sovereignty.
The dialogue comes in light of the recent legal restrictions on LGBT rights placed by the Russian government prior to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
This event is free and open to all OLLU students. Pizza will be provided.

Rosemary Saenz Staff Awards to be discussed during Staff Org meeting
New criteria and new categories have been established for the Rosemary Saenz Staff Awards. These will be explained tomorrow during the Staff Organization meeting at 8:30 a.m. in Library Community Room. All staff members are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn about the awards and the nomination process.
The new categories include the Customer Service Award, Providence Award, Rising Star Award and Excellence Award. Staff award winners will be announced during the May 14 Faculty and Staff Appreciation Dinner.
Yvette Benavides wins first place in ‘How I Found You’ writing contest
Yvette Benavides, associate professor of English, won first place in the “How I Found You” Valentine’s Day writing contest sponsored by Gemini Ink and the Rivard Report. Her short, nonfiction story, “Linguistics 101, Finding My Soul in Español,” tells the story of how she fell in love with linguistics. Read her winning story here.
