The Services to Students with Disabilities (SSD) office is recruiting students to participate in Project 31. Project 31 is a two-year research study that will investigate the gap between students with disabilities and their peers who do not have disabilities.

The study seeks to improve the retention and graduation rates of students with disabilities, expand access to digital content for students with disabilities and develop new innovative solutions.

The study is sponsored by Georgia Institute of Technology’s Center for Accessible Materials Innovation (CAMI), which is funded through a first-ever grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

OLLU students are eligible to participate if they meet the following requirements:

• Identify as an ethnic and/or racial minority
• Are currently enrolled as a freshman or sophomore at OLLU
• Have a condition—blindness, visual impairment, acquired brain injury, a learning disability, ADHD, or a physical disability—that may qualify them for electronic textbooks in accessible formats

Students who participate will receive free accessible eBook reader software, up to 10 digital textbooks per semester or quarter and up to $375.

Texas Public Radio (TPR) will be visiting OLLU as part of its “Dare to Listen” campaign, Tuesday from 12-1:30 p.m. in the Mall Area. The campaign seeks to promote the idea of open, encouraged listening and opening civil discourse among people who may disagree.

All undergraduate and graduate students are invited to attend a workshop on the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, today from 4:15-5 p.m. in Providence Hall, Blue Room.

The workshop will provide more information on the fully funded grants available for study, research or English Teaching Assistantships in more than 140 countries.

The Free Application for Federal Student Financial Aid (FAFSA) for the 2017-2018 academic year is now open. Students and families will be able to complete the FAFSA using information from their 2015 tax returns.

Now that students can apply for financial aid packages earlier, OLLU can provide financial aid notifications earlier, ensuring that students and their families have more time to prepare for education costs and provide additional time for OLLU to offer beneficial financial aid counseling.

For more information, students are encouraged to visit the Financial Aid Office and speak with a counselor.

OLLU Campus Recreation provides programming based on the principles of sound body, mind and spirit. A variety of classes are offered to promote a healthy lifestyle, teach lifelong activities and provide a fun environment for participants. Fall Club Rush will take place Wednesday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Mall Area. This superhero-themed event gives all students the opportunity to explore all that OLLU has to offer for students. Students who plan to participate in the December graduation must apply for graduation by Friday with the Registrar’s Office. Students planning to graduate in the spring or summer of 2017 must apply for graduation by Friday, Oct. 7.
