Baseball takes two of three from Jarvis Christian

The baseball squad took two of three games against Jarvis Christian University (JCU) this weekend, winning the second game, 3-2, and the finale, 7-0.

After dropping the opener 4-0 ,the Saints’ Vincent Banda drove in D’Artagnan Perez-Padron with a game-winning single in the second game. Noah De La Riva, Donovan Gamez and Jack Kalisky combined on a two-hit shutout in the third game.

The Saints improve to 17-19 overall and 9-12 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Bulldogs drop to 14-13 overall and 11-9 in the RRAC.

Baseball grabs one of three against Louisiana Christian University

The OLLU baseball team lost a three-game series against Louisiana Christian University (LCU) this weekend. The Saints took the series finale, 3-2, after dropping the first two games, 15-4 and 7-5. The Saints move to 15-17 overall and 7-11 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Wildcats are now 22-6 overall and 12-3 in the RRAC.

In the finale, Jack Kalisky, Diego Zuniga and Anthony Valle each drove in runs to lead the Saints to victory.

Baseball wins conference series over Houston-Victoria

The baseball team took two of three Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) games against the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) this weekend. The Saints won the opener, 6-1, the third game, 5-1, and lost the second contest, 9-4.

The Saints jump to 9-8 overall and 3-3 in the RRAC. The Jaguars drop to 9-5 overall and 2-4 in conference.

Saints first baseman Jack Kalisky drove in three runs with a double and triple in the first game to support Devin Benavides, who threw eight scoreless innings, striking out seven and scattering seven hits.

OLLU centerfielder Brandon Betancourt drove in two runs in the third game while Christian Perez notched the win and struck out five batters in four innings.

Baseball scores 22 runs in sweep of Arlington Baptist

The OLLU baseball team swept Arlington Baptist University (ABU) in a three-game series with matchups on Thursday and Friday. The Saints won the opener, 10-0, behind the one-hit pitching of Devin Benavides and the bat of Nicholas Alonzo, who went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in one run.

Jack Kalisky went 2-for-3 and drove in one run as OLLU won the second game, 5-1. And Brandon Betancourt went 2-for-2 and drove in three runs to lead the Saints to a 7-0 victory in the final game.

The Saints improve to 6-4 on the season while the Patriots drop to 0-3.

Saints baseball wins one of three in season opener

The OLLU baseball team won one game of a three-game series against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at home on Jan. 26-27. The Saints are now 1-2 on the season, while the perennial powerhouse Drovers improved to 2-1

The Saints dropped the first game, 4-2, won the second, 6-5 and fell in the third, 14-5.

In the win, shortstop Caimyn Holiday went 3-for-4 at the plate, drove in two runs and scored two more for OLLU. Saints first baseman Jack Kalisky went 3-for-3 with an RBI triple. Chase Dunn threw 1 ⅓ innings of 1-hit relief and got the win.
