De’Quentin Greer scored a career-high 34 points to lead the men’s basketball team to a 105-93 win over Bacone College. The victory moves the Saints to 7-2 in the Red River Athletic Conference and 12-8 overall, while Bacone drops to 5-4 in the conference and 8-12 overall. Head Coach Ryan Wall commented, “DQ played very well, and didn’t miss very many shots. He played a key role in our win tonight.” Greer’s 34 points included 12-of-14 from the field and 10-of-11 free throws. He added seven rebounds and two assists. Xavier Roberson scored 30 points including 9-of-21 from the field, seven 3-pointers and 5-of-7 from the free throw line. The Saints shot 47 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range and 80 percent from the free throw line. They committed 15 turnovers while forcing 23 on Bacone. The Saints will play their next two games on the road. On Feb. 6, they will be in Hobbs, N.M. to play the University of the Southwest. Christopher Minner becomes most winningest coach in OLLU women’s basketball history
After Saturday’s 98-50 win for the women’s basketball team over Bacone College, Head Coach Christopher Minner became the winningest coach in OLLU women’s basketball history. His career 47 wins surpassed previous head coach Rusty Kennedy’s 46 wins over two seasons. Minner’s career losses are six, compared to 17 for Kennedy at OLLU. The victory moves the Saints to 8-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference and 17-2 overall, while Bacone drops to 2-7 in the conference and 5-11 overall. The Saints are ½ a game behind league-leader Wiley College (9-1/19-2), but are ranked in the NAIA higher than Wiley — No. 10 compared to No. 12 for the Lady Wildcats.
Head Coach Minner commented, “The key for us was we were able to execute plays, and we played hard. I think we could have played better. Our bench played very hard, and I am glad we were able to get everyone on the court.” Electra Roberts scored a season-high 20 points for the Saints including 9-of-14 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. She added seven rebounds. Nelly Flores scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Destiny Melton recorded her second double-double of the season after she finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Mercedes Dobson also scored 10 points. The Saints shot 41 percent from the field, 26 percent from 3-point range and 62 percent from the free throw line. They forced 30 turnovers, while committing 13. OLLU community invited to ‘Not For Sale II’ film screening
In observance of Human Trafficking Awareness Month, the Center for Women in Church and Society (CWCS) will be joining San Antonio Against Slavery for a screening of the documentary, “Not For Sale II,” Tuesday, Jan. 28 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Oblate School of Theology in the Whitley Theological Center, Room 104. The film tells the story of five modern day abolitionists who battle human trafficking across the globe.
OLLU students, faculty and staff who want to ride with the group from the CWCS should RSVP to kgibson@ollusa.edu by the end of today.
The vans will leave from the Elliott House at 6 p.m.

OLLU will create first-ever 30-year digital archive of Segundo de Febrero
More than 30 years ago, two Our Lady of the Lake University students organized a commemoration of the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. That commemoration, known as Segundo de Febrero, has been repeated every year in locations across the United States.
OLLU’s Center for Mexican American Studies and Research will recognize these efforts by establishing a digital archive that documents 30 years of commemorating Segundo de Febrero. The archive will be announced during a news conference on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. in Providence Hall, West Social Room.
President Sister Jane Ann Slater and Sister Maria Eva Flores of the Center for Mexican American Studies and Research will accept the digital records during the news conference.
A multimedia presentation and poetry reading will follow the press conference in Providence Hall, Blue Room.

‘Find the Power of Providence’ at retreat hosted by Sister Joyce Detzel, CDP
Students, staff and faculty are invited to attend, “Finding the Power of Providence in Your Everyday Life,” Feb. 1 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Elliott House. Sister Joyce Detzel, CDP, will lead the retreat.
For deeper engagement, participants are also invited to attend an optional overnight retreat at the convent for single Catholic women open to exploring the possibility of a call from God to respond to the power of Providence as a Sister of Divine Providence.

Make your own Valentine’s Day cards at the Elliott House
OLLU community members are invited to spread a little love to friends, family and co-workers by participating in “El Dia del Amor y la Amistad” or “Love and Friendship Day” sponsored by the Center for Women in Church and Society, Feb. 6-7 at the Elliott House. Supplies will be available or participants can bring their own to create a Valentine’s Day card for those special people in their life. On Feb. 6, supplies will be available from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and on Feb. 7, they will be available from 10 a.m.-noon. Refreshments will be provided.
Learn socially responsible investing tips
OLLU alumna Sister Susan Mika, OSB, founder of the Benedictine Coalition for Responsible Investment and Rev. Seamus Finn, OMI, director of the U.S. Oblate Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation Ministry and the Chief of Faith Consistent Investing for the OIP Investment Trust, will present, “Socially Responsible Investment: Respect, Dignity and Profit,” Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at Texas Lutheran University.

Help raise money for OLLU students and enjoy some Cajun-inspired fun at ‘Down on the Bayou’
The Division of Mission and Ministry and the Congregation of Divine Providence are teaming up to host “Down on the Bayou,” Feb. 15 from 6-10 p.m. in Chapel Auditorium.
The night of Cajun food, music, dancing and a silent auction will raise money to help OLLU students who will be making a pilgrimage to France to follow in the footsteps of Fr. John Martin Moye, founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence.
Tickets are $75 per person or $500 for a table of eight.
