Six students from the Computer Information Systems and Security (CISS) program attended the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) National Collegiate Conference held at Omaha, Nebraska. The group won first place in AITP student chapter T-shirt contest category, Xavier Perez won third place in the security contest, and Samuel Wolf was awarded a top 10 honorable mention in the security contest.

OLLU students, Caitlin Starks and LaVictor McKnight, were the winners of an iPad mini for completing the Servitas Residence Hall Survey.

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Southwest Airlines have teamed up to provide round trip airline tickets to students with socioeconomic need who travel away from home to pursue a higher education through “Dándole Alas a Tu Éxito/Giving Flight To Your Success.”

Recipients may be awarded one to four roundtrip tickets for the student and/or parent to use when traveling to/from college. The opportunity is open to undergraduate and graduate students.

Students who will be graduating in May are required to clear all holds/balances by April 22 in order to receive a diploma during the graduation ceremony. Holds can be viewed in the Notifications section in the center column of the myOLLU portal. If a student does not have any holds or other issues, the Notifications section will not appear.

Holds can be placed for any outstanding debts owed to OLLU or any issues with the student’s account including unpaid balances on tuition and fees, citations from the University Police Department, fines owed to the University library, and charges owed to Student Life or Residence Life. Students should contact the office or department that placed the hold in order to pay off any balances or clear up any issues.

Graduating students who do not clear holds will receive a diploma jacket during the commencement ceremony and will have to clear all holds before receiving a diploma.

Note: Balances paid by check will not be removed for up to 10 business days from receipt of the check to ensure that the check clears.

Students in Psych 5330, Violence Prevention and Intervention, provided a day of crafts, outdoor and relaxation activities for children and moms who are residents at Family Violence Prevention Services.

The Student Government Association (SGA) is hosting “Getting to the Gold” tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. in the Mall Area. This financial literacy event will give students the knowledge and skills needed to manage their financial resources effectively. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
